Should you take it?
- Suits managers who lead AI adoption or change in a business and already know Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Foundry.
- Not for people who haven't run change in an organization, because Microsoft asks for experience guiding adoption or change management first.
- The catch: most of the exam is about Microsoft's own AI apps and services, so it fits a Microsoft workplace better than a mixed one.
- Take AI Business Professional instead if you use Microsoft 365 Copilot yourself and haven't led change; it asks only basic Microsoft 365 skills.
Who can take AB-731?
Microsoft lists what to know before it.
In Microsoft's words

How we chose

- Alternatives: certifications in the same family or on the same topic, at the same level, leaving out partner-only and invite-only ones; a replacement the issuer names comes first.
