Should you take it? Suits penetration testers who want to test AI systems and are already buying the GIAC course it comes with. Not for anyone who wants to sit an exam soon, as it launches on February 9, 2027. The catch: GIAC gives no separate exam price, so you can't tell how much of the course bundle pays for the exam. GIAC Offensive AI Analyst is bookable now, though it covers attacking with AI, such as phishing and deepfakes, rather than attacking AI systems.

Which AI security certification should you take?

You work in a security team: CompTIA SecAI+ (CY0-001). CompTIA recommends 3 to 4 years in IT and 2 or more in hands-on cybersecurity, but doesn't require a credential. The exam has up to 60 questions in 60 minutes.
You manage security and hold CISM or CISSP: ISACA AAISM, which needs an active CISM or CISSP. It costs $599 (non member); $459 (member).
You attack or test AI systems: GIAC Offensive AI Analyst (GOAA), 56 questions in 120 minutes. GIAC AI Penetration Tester is announced and only sold with a GIAC course.
You secure AI platforms: GIAC AI Platform Security (GAIPS), 54 questions in 120 minutes.
You build agents on AWS: AWS Securing Agent Identities Demonstrated, a free hands-on lab assessment.

The catch: CompTIA and GIAC don't show their exam prices on the pages listed below, so check the issuer's page before you budget.
