Which AI course fits the way you teach?
Start from the tool your school already uses, since each course teaches its maker's product.
- Your school uses Google: Generative AI for Educators with Gemini shows middle and high school teachers how to use Gemini and Gemini Notebook to save time on admin, personalize instruction and enrich lessons. It is free, takes 2 hours and gives a free certificate. If you only take one course, take this one.
- Your school uses ChatGPT: OpenAI's ChatGPT Foundations for Teachers is a free 5-hour course for K-12 teachers in seven modules, covering prompting and classroom uses such as lesson planning. The catch: it gives no certificate.
- You teach in a college or design courses: Anthropic's AI Fluency for Educators applies its 4D AI Fluency framework to teaching practice and institutional strategy, for faculty, instructional designers and education leaders. It is free, intermediate level and gives a free certificate. Anthropic doesn't say how long it takes.
Is there AI training for a whole school staff?
The Google AI Educator series is free AI literacy training for staff across schools and higher education, built around Gemini. Sessions are short, cover teaching uses as well as administrative tasks, and can be taken self-serve or with a live facilitator, which helps for a staff training day. A digital badge follows a short quiz.
Where can teachers learn about AI ethics and student data?
The EU Academy's Ethical and effective practices for AI and data in education is a free, self-paced beginner course for school and vocational teachers. It covers AI and data literacy, ethical questions, and using data for personalized learning and assessment, with a free certificate.
It pairs well with either tool course: one teaches you what the tool can do, the other when to hold back.
