Should you take it?
  • Suits auditors, risk and IT staff who want an entry-level AI exam they can book at any time and sit remotely.
  • Not for technical builders, as the two domains, AI concepts and AI implementations, stay at fundamentals level.
  • The catch: ISACA doesn't say how long the certificate stays valid, so you can't tell if or when you'd need to resit it.
  • Take ISACA Advanced in AI Security Management instead if you hold an active CISM or CISSP and your role is managing AI security.

Should you take it?
  • Suits IT auditors with an active CISA who now audit AI systems and want a credential that says so.
  • Not for anyone without CISA or another qualifying designation, since ISACA won't let you sit it without one.
  • The catch: non-members pay US$599 against US$459 for members, so price up ISACA membership before you book.
  • If your work is assessing AI risk rather than auditing it, ISACA's Advanced in AI Risk costs the same US$459 for members.
ISACA Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR)ExamOnline proctoring offered$599 (non member); $459 (member)Needs another credentialActive
Should you take it?
  • Suits risk professionals who already hold one of ISACA's qualifying designations and want to show they can assess AI risk.
  • Not for newcomers to risk work: ISACA only admits candidates who hold a qualified designation from its list.
  • The catch: in some regions the exam is test-center only, so you may have to travel rather than sit it remotely.
  • Take ISACA's Advanced in AI Audit instead if you audit AI systems and already hold an active CISA certification.
