Should you take it?
  • Suits people who passed it before June 1, 2026, as evidence of training and deploying models and optimizing language models on Azure.
  • Not for data scientists picking their next exam: Microsoft retired it on June 1, 2026.
  • The catch: Microsoft retired the renewal assessment too, so if you hold it you have no way to extend it.
  • Take AI-300 instead if you run ML workloads in Python and know some DevOps; it adds GenAIOps to the model lifecycle.

Should you take it?
  • Suits hiring managers reading a CV that lists AI-102: it tested Azure vision, language, knowledge mining and generative AI solutions.
  • Not for anyone choosing an Azure exam now: Microsoft retired the certification and its renewal assessment on June 30, 2026.
  • The catch: agents made up only 5 to 10% of AI-102, so it shows little of the agentic work newer Azure exams cover.
  • Take AI-103 instead if you build Azure apps in Python: it puts 30 to 35% on generative AI and agentic solutions.
